Exploring (1)

September and October are THE months to witness the annual color changing of the leaves. This being the first weekend of October, and one I happened to have off work, we decided to take the dogs on an adventure to pay tribute to the transition.

However, plans always play out differently than what you picture in your mind. For instance, in my mind, there was a distinct family photo (who was taking it??) in front of the mountains accented with yellowish-orange Aspens. In reality, the only picture I got during the 2-hr escapade was on the side of the road, where we stopped so Yogi could reunite with his breakfast. Other than that, we drove from crowded Farmers Markets to overcrowded state park parking lots (FOMO is apparently strong in autumn).

And you know what? Even that was beautiful. And it reminded me that things don’t always have to go exactly how you envision them. Maybe it wasn’t how I pictured, but it was a wonderful way to spend the morning. And just in case this leaves you wanting, here’s a piece of my mind…

For reference, we drove from Nederland to Blackhawk, CO via the Peak to Peak scenic byway, with a brief detour through Golden Canyon State Park. It was truly a beautiful drive, so you’ll just have to come and see it for yourself!..unless we try again next weekend 😛
